Glowing Concrete

4:53Additional collectionEntropy’s Heir

A step by step account of my wife and I's trip to Oslo, Norway.

Cold breath painting pictures in the air,
Harbor lights dancing in your hair.
Oslo humming low like a vinyl groove,
No plans, no map, just me and you.

Stomachs talking, streets asleep,
City secrets we’re about to keep.
Then the sidewalk starts to shine below,
Like it knows something we don’t know.

You said, “Babe, is the ground… glowing?”
I said, “Only one way to go, then.”

We followed a glowing path in the concrete, baby,
Hungry hearts and empty hands.
Neon veins in a midnight city,
Leading us like it had a plan.

Didn’t know where it was taking us,
Didn’t care, we trusted the sign.
Turned the corner and there it was, love—
Warm light, food, and perfect timing.

You kicked the snow like you meant some drama,
Said, “Watch this,” with that little smirk I love.
But it wasn’t snow, it was slick damn ice,
And you almost met Norway twice.

You windmilled hard, I lost control,
Laughing so loud I forgot the cold.
Tears in my eyes, you flipping me off,
Both of us cracking up on the sidewalk.

You said, “You’re the worst,” but you were smiling.
Girl, your chaos is my favorite violence.

Yeah, we followed a glowing path in the concrete, baby,
Hungry hearts and empty hands.
Neon veins in a midnight city,
Leading us like it had a plan.

Didn’t know where it was taking us,
Didn’t care, we trusted the sign.
Turned the corner and there it was, love—
Warm light, food, and perfect timing.

Late-night sports pub, lights too bright,
Locals yelling in Norwegian fight songs.
Beers on the table, fog on the glass,
You leaning in, time moving fast.

Jerseys on walls, old game on the screen,
But you were the only thing I saw.
You stole my fries, I stole your grin.
We were winning before the game even began.

3 AM and the streets went quiet,
City breathing in between the sirens.
Brick walls, shadows, yellow light,
Then you started dancing like it was our night.

Spinning slow in that empty alley,
Boots on stone, little laugh so reckless.
No music, but you found the beat,
And I swear the whole damn world watched you with me.

Yeah, we followed a glowing path in the concrete, baby,
Even the dark was on our side.
Neon veins in a midnight city,
Lighting up your wild little smile.

You twirling in an alley at 3 AM,
Like nobody else was alive.
Oslo sleeping, but we were electric—
Two fools, one love, one night.

Snow or ice, pubs or streetlight glow,
Everywhere you go feels like home.
If I get lost, I hope it’s there,
Hungry, laughing, without a care.

On that glowing road, concrete and gold,
With you, I don’t mind growing old.
Oslo nights, stuck in my skin.
3 AM… I’d do it all again.
